CHERRIES head coach Andoni Iraola felt Milos Kerkez fared “quite well” in his first start since returning from injury.

Hungarian international Kerkez played 88 minutes of Cherries’ spirited defeat to current Premier League holders Manchester City on Saturday, having replaced the injured Lloyd Kelly who missed out due to concerns over a hip issue.

It was the left-back’s first start since the 3-0 victory away at Manchester United in December, with five appearances off the bench in recent weeks.

The teenager buzzed about the pitch in his usual fashion, impacting the game at both ends of the pitch.

That was at least his boss’s evaluation, with Iraola sharing: “I think like the team, he had very difficult duels.

“Sometimes Bernardo Silva went very low and he had to go far from his position.

“He had to come back very quick to defend.

“I think he dealt quite well, especially the second half.

“He had more chances to attack.

“I think he overlapped really well with Tav (Marcus Tavernier) and then Dango (Ouattara).

“Probably he wasn't the best in the finishing.

“He had also one very good chance from a set piece in the second phase.

“But I think he dealt quite well with the game.”
