CHERRIES under-18s fell to defeat at Canford Arena against Swansea City, losing 2-1 in the Professional Development League.

Jonny Day opened scores shortly after the half-hour mark, before the away side responded through Thomas Woodward minutes later.

Woodward would be the Welsh side's hero in the second half, giving Swansea the lead 10 minutes into the final 45 minutes.

Charlie Osborne went close in the opening stages, his free-kick sent just wide of the post.

Harry Redknapp then found Day with an incisive pass, but the striker was unable to steer his effort on target after arriving into the area.

But the next shooting opportunity Day would receive, he would bury.

With the ball centred into the box, Day was on hand with a cool finish to give his side the lead.

However, Cherries’ joy would be short lived, as Woodward popped up to ensure the two teams entered the break level.

And shortly after the restart, Swans would lead.

Once again Woodward was on target, scoring what proved to be the winner on 55 minutes.

15 minutes from time defender Redknapp saw a header cleared off the line, the closest Cherries would come to an equaliser.
