CHERRIES head coach Andoni Iraola says there is “no update” over defender Lloyd Kelly’s contract situation.

Kelly has entered the final six months of his deal at Vitality Stadium, having signed a five-year contract on his arrival from Bristol City in the summer of 2019.

The defender, who is adept at centre-half and left-back, was the subject of a deadline bid from Tottenham Hotspur, whilst fellow Premier League sides Liverpool and Newcastle United have been credited with interest in the 25-year-old.

Serie A giants AC Milan and Juventus are also reportedly tracking Kelly, who could sign a pre-contract agreement with a club outside of England.

Asked about Kelly’s contract situation, Iraola replied: “There is no update.

“I know that the club are working on it.

“We would like to be part of his ideas for the future. But there are no updates there.”

Since joining from Bristol City, Kelly has made 132 appearances for Cherries, captaining the side to promotion under Scott Parker in the 2021/22 campaign.

This year the Bristolian has played 16 times under Iraola across three different competitions.

Kelly and Cherries return to action this weekend when they welcome reigning champions Manchester City to Vitality Stadium (5.30pm).
