FORMER Cherries player and boss Harry Redknapp expects Eddie Howe to get a win over his old club this weekend, stating: “Bournemouth are really struggling at the minute.”

After a brilliant run of form in December, Cherries are now five without a win in the Premier League, although they have included games against the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool.

Andoni Iraola’s men have collected two points in the league this calendar year, against Nottingham Forest and West Ham United, before losing at Fulham last weekend.

They have also progressed into the fifth round of the FA Cup, with wins over Queens Park Rangers and Swansea City.

Newcastle United meanwhile, who were well beaten at Vitality Stadium earlier this season, have picked up form with seven points from their last three games.

They sit seventh in the table, six places and nine points above Cherries.

In his role as ambassador for BetVictor, Redknapp predicted a 2-1 win for Newcastle at St James' Park this weekend.

He said: “Here we go, the Eddie Howe derby!

“That was a big win for Newcastle at Forest last week and they’re beginning to climb their way back up the table.

“Eddie will be concerned by the number of goals his side are conceding at the minute though.

“Bournemouth are really struggling at the minute and never really turned up against Fulham last week.

“I wasn’t worried about this side, but they need to start picking up points, it’s so easy to start falling down the table.

“I can’t see them keeping a clean sheet, but I’m going with the home win.”
