CHERRIES starlet Alex Scott has been named the Channel Islands Sports Personality of the Year 2023 for his exploits over the last 12 months.

A summer signing from Bristol City for a reported £25million, Scott became the first Guernsey-born footballer to feature in the Premier League in more than two decades.

Accepting the award via a video link, Scott commented: "It's a special feeling.

“There were obviously so many other talented people up for the award, and across the islands in general, so to be nominated for the award is a huge privilege, and of course to win it as well is a special feeling."

Scott follows in the footsteps of his stepsister, Maya Le Tissier, who won the same award last year.

Le Tissier is an England international currently playing for Manchester United in the Women’s Super League.
