POOLE Town’s woes continued with a 2-0 home defeat to Hayes & Yeading United, the fourth game in a row in which the Dolphins have been beaten.

After a goalless first half at BlackGold Stadium, strikes from Mo Bettamer and Ayo Faniyan condemned Dolphins to a third home loss in the space of eight days, as their season continues to falter.

Boss Matt Tubbs, up against his former Cherries teammate Mark Molesley in the opposite dugout, rung the changes following the 3-0 weekend loss to Hanwell Town.

New signing Josh Staunton came into the defence, with Jamie Whisken, Harry Hutchinson and Tony Lee all recalled. Kyran Samadi, Luke Nippard, Kaya Tshaka and Luke Pardoe dropped out of the side.

Lee and Harvey Slade had early chances for Poole, before Lloyd Thomas was forced into a fine save at the other end.

Hayes broke the deadlock on 56 minutes, substitute Bettamer’s low free-kick proving too hot for Thomas to handle.

Whisken missed a chance to equalise, before Faniyan raced through to double the visitors’ lead.

Defeat leaves Poole 11th in the Southern League Premier South table, eight points off the play-offs and eight clear of the relegation zone, with games in hand on many sides around them.

Dolphins: Thomas, Rose (Tshaka, 87), Whisken, Staunton, Wright, Hutchinson (Pardoe, 66), Murray, Fogden, Slade (Samadi, 76), Lee, Holmes.

Unused subs: Lowes, Monk.
