CHERRIES boss Andoni Iraola felt his side’s 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest was “decided with set pieces”.

Justin Kluivert steered home a corner to open scores in the first half, but before the break parity was restored by Callum Hudson-Odoi following a Forest free-kick.

Chances were at a premium for both sides, with Forest keeper Matz Sels without a save to make throughout the contest.

There was a further flashpoint when Philip Billing’s cynical tackle to stop Hudson-Odoi on the counter was deemed worthy a red, Cherries having to see out the final minutes with 10 men.

It is the second time in four days Cherries have picked up a point from a match, also drawing away at West Ham 1-1 on Thursday evening.

Asked for his thoughts on the game, Iraola told the Daily Echo: “I think it has been a completely different game from the other day (against West Ham), probably.

“We finished with the same result, but sensations are pretty different.

“We started, I think, really well.

“We did a very, very good 20, 25 minutes.

“But once we lost this high energy, the game went much more leveled.

“No big chances for any team.

“The rhythm of the game was really slow with a lot of interruptions.

“The game was decided with set pieces basically.”

With Cherries having to hang on to the result, Iraola stated his side must “value” their point.

He continued: “I finished much happier with the performance the other day because we finished the game, even the second half playing really well, attacking their side, keeping the ball even in stoppage time.

“We were the team closest to winning the game.

“Today obviously with 10 we finish very different, protecting our point.

“It's something that we didn't want at the beginning of the game.

“Considering how everything has gone, I think we have to value it.”
