ALL WORK and no play may make Jack a dull boy, but Cherries boss Andoni Iraola avoids the premise by having a little fun with his analysts – via playing football bingo.

The daily activity quizzes users on their football knowledge by asking them to assign random players to appropriate criteria.

For example, the game could ask for a player who has won the Premier League, or has played for Cherries.

And Cherries’ analysis team have a secret weapon up their sleeve to complete the grid, with Iraola sharing his footballing trivia accumulated across a 16-year-long senior career.

As long as the vital prep work for Cherries’ fixtures is done, Iraola is more than happy to spend time suggesting correct answers based on players he has come up against.

After one day stumbling upon the analysts playing along, Iraola has now made it a part of his daily routine at the training ground.

He explained: “Normally we play, sometimes it's between video analysis, we do a small break.

“We use these five, 10 minutes and we play bingo.

“It's good because they are very young, the analysts, and whenever they start talking about older players we can have the advantage.

“I think it's not a matter of you have to be all the time working and focusing on the screen, there's moments for everything.

“You can take a break and play whatever you like.

“Even if they play some table tennis sometimes, it works for me because at the end it's not a matter of spending the time and the hours.

“You have to do your job.

“Your job is well done, perfect.

“And we can play football bingo for five, ten minutes. Nothing changes.

“I think it's good also for the group here.”

Cherries will be hoping for a full house when they face Nottingham Forest tomorrow (2pm) at Vitality Stadium in the Premier League.
