THERE is just one week remaining of the transfer window, and things have been pretty slow moving across the country.

For Cherries, they have let three senior fringe players depart on loan in Joe Rothwell (Southampton), Hamed Traore (Napoli) and Emiliano Marcondes (Hibernian).

In return, they have added James Hill back into their squad, recalling him from a loan at Blackburn Rovers.

From the outset, the stance has been Andoni Iraola is pretty happy with his squad as it is and that there would only be arrivals were there significant departures.

Dominic Solanke’s name continues to be bandied about as a potential striker option for some of England’s top clubs, but it would take an astronomical offer for Cherries to even consider it this month.

Lloyd Kelly’s situation remains the same. He is still no closer to penning a new deal at Cherries and while he is permitted to talk to clubs abroad, it seems currently he is set to stay with Cherries until the end of the season before leaving on a free transfer.

There are still a few potential moves which could happen in the next week, before the 11pm deadline on Thursday, February 1, the same evening Cherries go to West Ham United.

In the goalkeeper department, Mark Travers has usurped Andrei Radu as chief backup to Neto, while Darren Randolph is deemed fit again after recent health issues.

That could see a potential exit in that area, with talk earlier in the window loanee Radu could try and cut short his spell and look for more game-time elsewhere.

Asked if he expects all four goalkeepers to remain at Cherries until the end of the season, Iraola last week said: “It will depend on what they want to do and if they find a club and the player finds the correct spot.

“With goalkeepers it is even more special, because it is probably harder to find the spot, because it is a special position.

“I don’t know what is going to happen.”

Bournemouth Echo:

In defence, with Max Aarons set for a lengthy spell out, as well as Ryan Fredericks being a long-term absentee, Cherries are short at full-back.

Adam Smith is also sidelined, while Kelly and Milos Kerkez are not fully fit, meaning players are playing out of position to fill those roles currently.

The club are hopeful they will not need to sign a player in that position in the next week, but how everybody comes through against Swansea tonight and when Smith will be fit again will be key factors.

Elsewhere, it is still plausible both David Brooks and Kieffer Moore depart on loan to the Championship, after playing their part in tonight’s FA Cup clash with Swansea City.

Brooks seems the likelier of the two to potentially exit, given the other options in the wide areas. Antoine Semenyo has returned earlier than expected from the Africa Cup of Nations to bolster that position further.

Southampton continue to be linked with a move for Brooks, who has started just two Premier League games this season, to aid their promotion push.

Bournemouth Echo:

Fellow Wales international Moore remains in high demand, from the likes of Cardiff City and Sunderland, among others.

He almost left the club in the summer, but his situation is complicated by Cherries only willing to sanction an exit if they can find a suitable replacement.

Finding a striker in January who would happily come to Cherries to likely sit on the bench, behind Dominic Solanke in the pecking order, is tricky and could see Moore staying put.

Previously linked strikers Che Adams and Patson Daka, perhaps better suited to Iraola's style than Moore, have been in good recent form with Southampton and Leicester City respectively.

Chris Mepham too has spoken about a potential move away to get more minutes, but with a raft of injuries in defence, Iraola will unlikely want to let a player leave in that area.

Asked which positions he feels the club need to strengthen in, Iraola on Friday said: “It will depend a lot on the departures we have.

“We are now without Joe and Junior. It will also depend how Tyler Adams recovers.

“Probably we will need someone there in the middle.

“From there, it will depend on the departures.”

He added: “Right now we have lost three players in this market and recovered Hilly.

“We will have one, two or three youngsters on the bench (against Swansea) that are helping us in the cup competitions especially, and some league games.

“We have squads now even bigger than before with 27, 28, 29 players.

“At the end, I start 11. So more than half of the players don’t start the games.

“You need 25, 26, 27 and everyone has to not accept their role, but try to fight in a proper way, try to take his chances. I think everyone here has been quite professional.

“That is also one of the reasons why when the market opens, we have to listen to the players, because they have been respectful, they have been training really well, they have been playing when we need them and I think it is the way it should be.”

Bournemouth Echo:

Speaking on Wednesday, Iraola was asked if there have been any offers for his players.

He said: “I wouldn’t know what to answer. I suppose they have asked for our players.

“I hope someone has shown some interest. But I don’t know the process of the specifics of every situation.”

Asked if he can see further departures in this window, Iraola added: “It is possible, yes. But it is possible also we sign someone.

“There is still one week in the market. It is the week where everything is going to happen.

“Until now, a lot of signings haven’t happened. But now the last week of the market, normally in all the clubs, are when things happen.

“We don’t know what is going to happen, especially me, I don’t know what is going to happen.

“I know more or less our situation and where we probably need some help. But the winter market is difficult, because there are not so many players available.”

He continued: “I am sure some teams have asked for some of our players.

“But a lot of things have to happen, for the interests of everyone to be the same.

“We have done some loans with some players and I think the conversation will continue this week, but we will not know until the end what is going to happen.

“For me, in my position as a coach, I hate these weeks. I hate these markets.

“I am willing to finish this month and know from February 2 what my squad is.

“But I am sure for most of the coaches this is what we want.”
