MAX Aarons described facing Swansea City at home in the FA Cup as “a really exciting draw”, adding: “Our quality hopefully will show.”

On Thursday, Cherries face the Championship Swans for the second time this season, having knocked them out of the Carabao Cup back in August.

Aarons played a full part as Andoni Iraola’s men made hard work of the task in south Wales, coming from behind to win 3-2, the Spaniard’s first victory as Cherries boss.

That game has been a theme of cup contests for Cherries this season, also struggling initially against lower league opposition in Stoke City and Queens Park Rangers, before eventually emerging victorious.

A comeback 3-2 win at Loftus Road in round three set up this game against Swansea, who themselves knocked out Morecambe.

Discussing the draw, Aarons told the Daily Echo: “We want to go as far as we can in all the competitions that we’re in.

“We made hard work of it against Swansea at the start of the season and we don’t want to be doing that again.

“And with the QPR game as well, it was very similar.

“It doesn’t matter what league you’re in, these cup games can be real tight games.

“It’s a one-off game. It’s a big opportunity for them against a Premier League side and these games are never as straightforward as you’d imagine them to be.”

He added: “We’ve got to be at our best and at the top of our performance to go through to the next round.

“Our quality hopefully will show. It’s a really exciting draw for us and we want to go on a real good run.”

Aarons is a major doubt to feature against the Swans, having limped off towards the end of Sunday’s 4-0 defeat to Liverpool with a hamstring complaint.
