LEEDS United boss Daniel Farke dedicated his side’s 2-1 win over Preston North End to Jaidon Anthony after the passing of the winger’s mother last week.

It was announced prior to kick-off that Anthony’s mother Donna had passed, with both Cherries and Leeds donning black armbands in remembrance and support.

During Cherries’ 4-0 defeat against Liverpool at Vitality Stadium fans chanted Anthony’s name as a further show of support, singing after 32 minutes in reflection of the winger’s shirt number.

The Cherries academy graduate is currently on loan at Elland Road as part of a deal that saw Colombian international Luis Sinisterra move in the opposite direction.

Anthony was an unused substitute as Leeds came from behind to defeat Preston at Elland Road, with goals from Dan James and Joel Piroe maintaining the Yorkshire side’s promotion push.

Asked about Anthony’s inclusion in the game, Farke shared: "There are moments in life when family is more important in football.

“We are all there for him (Anthony).

“He decides when he wants to come back and when he did, we wanted to make it normal for him."

The German manager then went on to dedicate the win to Anthony and his family.

He restarted: "It meant so much to win this game and I’d like to dedicate the win to Jaidon and his family.

"We wanted to win this game for Jaidon and his family as he’s had a tough, tough time this week and we are like a family here at Leeds United.

“This was the reason why it meant so much.”

Leeds remain fourth in the Championship table, with 54 points from 28 games.

Farke’s side are four points behind Southampton, who occupy the final automatic promotion spot of second.
