ANDONI Iraola described as “really positive” Wednesday’s behind-closed-doors friendly against Brentford.

Cherries emerged 3-1 victors at Vitality Stadium against the Bees, thanks to goals from David Brooks, Hamed Traore and Kieffer Moore.

The game was also notable for the return from injury of Emiliano Marcondes, who played 45 minutes against his former club.

A number of first-team players who have struggled for minutes in recent weeks also got game-time, including Mark Travers, Andrei Radu, Chris Mepham, Dango Ouattara and Luis Sinisterra.

The side was then filled by players from the in-form development squad, such as Max Kinsey, Ben Greenwood and Nathan Moriah-Welsh.

Asked what he took from the fixture, Iraola told the Daily Echo: “It was a good chance for us.

“Some players are not having these 90-minute games, against very strong opposition.

“Also we could see some players from the second team that are really doing very well, and see them against strong opposition, Premier League players.

“I think that is good for them, it is good for us and I think it was a really positive training session or game for everyone.”

Cherries return to action tomorrow, welcoming Aston Villa to Vitality Stadium (2pm), in the first of seven December fixtures.
