FORMER Cherries boss Harry Redknapp hailed Marcus Tavernier for a “superb” performance away at Sheffield United.

Tavernier was the star turn for Cherries as they recorded a first away win of the Premier League season, the winger leading the way with a double in a 3-1 victory over the Blades.

His strikes in each half sandwiched Justin Kluivert’s effort, whilst Oli McBurnie’s header deep into stoppage time was scant consolation for the hosts.

The goals represented Tavernier’s first of the campaign, the 24-year-old having notched five in 23 appearances last term in his debut top-flight season.

After selecting Tavernier in his team of the week for BetVictor, Redknapp shared: “That was a big win for Bournemouth up at Sheffield United at the weekend and Marcus Tavernier was superb.

“The first was a lovely, composed finish and what I liked about the second was the desire he showed to get on the end of that cross.

“That’s two wins in a row for Bournemouth, it looks like they’ve turned a corner.”

Cherries will look to continue their form when they welcome Aston Villa to the Vitality Stadium this Sunday, December 3.

The game with the Villans kicks off an action packed month, with Cherries playing seven Premier League games in December.
