WALES boss Rob Page says he will “try and influence” members of his playing squad to make moves in the upcoming January window to secure more playing time, making direct reference to Cherries’ Kieffer Moore.

Cherries’ Welsh trio of Moore, Chris Mepham, and David Brooks have all struggled for consistent game time this term under Andoni Iraola.

Mepham and Moore especially are key players in their countries’ set-up, with the triplet having garnered a combined total of 102 caps between them.

Wales’ campaign to qualify for next summer’s Euros has been extended to March after Cymru missed out on automatic qualification.

Two wins in their final group games against Armenia and Turkey would have secured safe passage to the European Championships for just the third time, but in the end Wales had to settle for a spot in the play-offs after drawing both matches.

A home semi-final against Finland in March would be followed by another fixture at the Cardiff City Stadium if Wales are victorious, against the winners of the other semi between Poland and Estonia.

As quoted by BBC Sport, Page shared: "We have to be on the front foot with it.

“We need to take every advantage into these games in March.

"If that means we have to try and influence some of the players to go and play and get minutes then we'll be having those conversations.

"We have to be selfish, we have to think of ourselves in this as well and get the players playing as many games as they can.

"We need to get all of us (coaches) in the room and have a plan, go through the squad - the potential squad - who needs to get out playing games, who needs more minutes, and we'll try to determine how healthy the bodies are coming into camp in March."

The former Northampton Town boss then went on to mention Moore by name, the striker playing the full 90 minutes against Armenia, but in Page’s opinion, not being fit enough to start against Turkey.

Page continued: “We had to make some changes from Armenia to Turkey and that's purely because of the lack of minutes some players are playing at club level.

"So Kieffer as an example wasn't playing week-in week-out, so for him on a very heavy pitch in Armenia, to put the shift in he did, to then ask him to marry the standards we're asking him to four days later is a big ask."

This term Moore has made five Premier League appearances for Cherries, all coming off the bench.
