ILLIA Zabarnyi and Ukraine missed out on automatic qualification for Euro 2024, after a 0-0 draw with Italy last night.

The Cherries centre-back played a full part in Leverkusen, keeping a clean sheet.

But Serhiy Rebrov’s men needed victory to overhaul Italy and clinch their spot in the finals.

Ukraine had a late appeal for a penalty dismissed when Chelsea’s Mykhailo Mudryk went over in the box.

They will now head into the play-offs in March, with the draw to take place this Thursday.

Zabarnyi’s Cherries teammate Hamed Traore continued his positive international camp with a start for Ivory Coast.

Having come off the bench to score twice in a 9-0 win over Seychelles, Traore made the XI for the subsequent World Cup qualifier, against Gambia.

Ivory Coast prevailed 2-0 thanks to goals from Christian Kouame and Seko Fofana, with Traore featuring for 89 minutes.

Owen Bevan started again for Wales under-21s, but could not prevent a 2-1 defeat to Denmark in their Euro qualifier.

Bevan, currently on loan at Cheltenham Town, was substituted on 77 minutes in Newport as Denmark moved above the previously unbeaten nation to top spot in the group.
