HEAD coach Andoni Iraola says it has been “good for me to spend time” with Bill Foley this week, with the club’s chairman back in town.

The American is set to take in tomorrow’s clash against Burnley at Vitality Stadium, as part of his pre-planned trip to England.

“Bill came this week,” confirmed Iraola.

“He is going to be watching the game. He last watched the game against Spurs here also.

“We have been talking about everything in general.

“A little bit about football, a little bit about other things, a lot of things.

“I think it is good for me to spend time with him and I also think it is good he is here with us in these moments.”

Asked if he has had any assurances from Foley about his future, as he still seeks a first win in the Premier League, Iraola said: “The problem is not that I don’t feel backed. This is not the problem.

“If this doesn’t work or whatever, it is going to be on me and on the players, especially the ones that perform and are responsible for the result. It is going to be like this.”

Asked if it is encouraging to have that backing from the owner, Iraola added: “I’ve said it since the beginning, I have no complaints there.

“I am not focusing on that side.

“Since day one here, I have been very happy with the players I have.

“We obviously have some problems with injuries that have been important, but it is something I am sure is happening in every team.”

A few reports this week have suggested Iraola’s position as head coach could be under threat should Cherries lose to Burnley.

Discussing speculation around his future, Iraola said: “I understand the questions, the situation, what it means to be part of this league.

“But I am not focusing on this, because the same as the team, if you ask me for my personal situation, if we win it will be a little bit up, if we lose it will be worse.

“But at the end I have to focus on what is going to happen on the pitch.”
