CHERRIES continued their fine form with a 4-0 win over Bristol City in the Professional Development League.

Alan Connell’s side are now unbeaten in six matches, keeping clean sheets in each fixture.

Cherries raced into a 3-0 lead at New Cuthbury with goals from Max Kinsey, Michael Dacosta Gonzalez and Toure Williams.

Finn Tonks completed the scoring early in the second half, as first-teamer Gavin Kilkenny played the majority of the contest.

Bristol City, who started the day above Cherries in the table, missed a big opportunity to break the deadlock early on, Dylan Kadji firing wide from the edge of the box.

Two minutes after Daniel Adu-Adjei failed to convert a Tonks cross, a corner fell to Tonks in the box. This time the full-back teed up Kinsey to tuck in from close range.

Nathan Moriah-Welsh, playing off the left, saw a shot well saved soon after, before two goals in three minutes took the game away from the Robins.

First, a well-worked move was finished clinically by Dacosta Gonzalez from just outside the box.

Then, sloppy play out the back from Bristol City was punished with Williams applying the calm finish.

Raph Araoye looked to hit back, his header saved by Cameron Plain, before the impressive Tonks jinked his way up the other end with his eventual shot flashing just wide.

Cherries had the final chance of the half, Adu-Adjei glancing a header wide from a Kilkenny cross.

Bristol City started the second half well, Sam Pearson firing a shot narrowly past the post.

Goalkeeper Joe Duncan then had his blushes spared. Having presented the ball to the feet of Jack Wadham, the Cherries man teed up Williams, but Duncan got back well to save.

But he would soon be picking the ball out of his net again. It was another set-piece which proved Bristol City’s undoing, the loose ball slammed home by Tonks.

Duncan produced a double save just before the half mark to deny Moriah-Welsh and then Wadham, to keep the score down.

Chances began to dry up in the closing stages, Plain preserving his clean sheet with a flying save to tip away from Pearson’s effort.
