CHERRIES striker Kieffer Moore struck twice for Wales as they cruised past Gibraltar 4-0 in a friendly on Wednesday night.

It was just the second time in 15 years Wales’ senior men’s team have played at Wrexham’s Cae Ras, with Moore’s brace added to by Ben Davies and Nathan Broadhead.

Moore’s club colleague David Brooks was an unused sub, the towering striker himself playing only 45 minutes before being replaced at the break by Millwall’s Tom Bradshaw.

In now means Moore has 12 goals in 36 caps for Wales since making his debut against Belarus in September 2019.

The third Cherry on international duty, Chris Mepham, was omitted from the squad entirely, with the defender still coming back from injury.

Wales selected the centre-back in hope that he would be available to play in the crunch qualifier with Croatia at the Cardiff City Stadium on Wednesday, with Cherries boss Andoni Iraola stating that he was unsure whether Mepham would be ready in time.

The Welsh are currently in fourth in Group D of the European Championship qualifiers, three points behind Croatia who have played one game fewer.

Their qualifying campaign ends in the next international break, when they face third-placed Armenia and second-placed Turkey.
