CHERRIES midfielder Lewis Cook stated his side are more than aware they have to put wins on the board ahead of Saturday’s trip to fellow strugglers Everton.

Andoni Iraola is yet to win a Premier League game since being appointed as Gary O’Neil’s replacement in June, Cherries winless in seven league fixtures to start the campaign.

Whilst Everton have got one tick in the win column, they are yet to taste victory at their Goodison Park home, having lost all four league fixtures there this term.

Defeat at the hands of title-chasing Arsenal saw Cherries drop into the relegation zone for the first time last weekend, before Burnley’s midweek victory over Luton pushed the Dorset outfit down to 19th.

After facing seven strong opponents to begin the season, fans and pundits alike have looked at Cherries’ upcoming run in October as the perfect chance to piece together a run of form.

Although the international break splits the month in two, Cherries’ next fixtures after Everton away are both at home, with O’Neil’s Wolves and newly-promoted Burnley the visitors.

Asked if the side were studying the league table after Cherries dropped into the bottom three, Cook told the Daily Echo: “I try not to look at the table at this stage. Just take it game by game.

“We know what we need to do and if that's the case, that's the case.

“We just try and make it right.”

After a tough run to start the season, it was put to Cook that Cherries’ next three represent a strong opportunity to put more points on the board.

The one-time England international responded: “They're opportunities, but again, we've got to do 100 per cent to win games. So every game in the Premier League is hard, always said that.

“I don't think they've looked at it (the three games coming up) until now .

“So we’ve took every game as it comes.

“We've been in games.

“We've had games this year that we could have won being ahead and unfortunately we didn’t get the win.

“But obviously it's a big, big few games coming up, which is, like I say, every game's massive, so we're just going to take it one by one.

“Every point's vital. So yeah, we just take it game by game and make sure we're together, which we are, to try and get some wins.

“Obviously we want to win games. I think we need to get some wins on the board and try and get up the table. So we're going to try and do that in the next few games.

“I think we win a couple of games and everyone has a different outlook on the season so far.

“We know where we are, we know what we need to do and we're going to try our hardest to put it right.”
