ARSENAL boss Mikel Arteta shared how he was “very happy” after his side blew past Cherries on Saturday afternoon, winning 4-0 on the south coast.

Bukayo Saka and Ben White goals sandwiched two further contributions from the penalty spot from Martin Odegaard and Kai Havertz, with Cherries failing to lay a glove on their guests.

Victory at Vitality Stadium continues Arsenal’s unbeaten start to the Premier League season, with only their north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur also yet to lose in the top flight this season.

Despite the comfort his side enjoyed throughout the game, Cherries only mustering one shot on target, Arteta believed that Andoni Iraola’s side had made it “very difficult” for the Gunners.

He said after the game: “Very happy, very happy, the way we approached the game since yesterday, the team was ready to play.

“We knew about the challenge we had ahead of us, against a team that don’t have what they deserve in terms of the games they have played.

“They don’t give you any time, the ball is always under pressure, small ground, very difficult to get out of that but I think we read the game really well and earnt the right to win it.”

The clean sheet in Dorset was Arsenal’s third of the Premier League season, all coming away from the Gunners’ Emirates home.

Arteta takes pride in his side’s ability to keep home teams quiet on Arsenal’s travels, although the Basque boss hopes to replicate this defensive prowess at home games as well.

He continued: “It’s a huge one, to win games in this league, keeping clean sheets for us is going to be crucial.

“And away from home is probably even bigger.

“The challenge is now can we take that into the Emirates as well and be consistent.”

Arteta has never lost to Cherries in his managerial career, recording four wins from five encounters.
