CHERRIES boss Andoni Iraola shared that his substitutions did not help his side finish “better” in their 4-0 defeat to Arsenal, admitting that he thought the “last minutes were probably out worst.”

Bukayo Saka’s opener was added to by goals from the penalty by Martin Odegaard and Kai Havertz, before Ben White made sure of the result at Vitality Stadium late on.

The first movement off the Cherries bench came after the hosts were 3-0 down, Marcus Tavernier and Justin Kluivert replaced by Dango Ouattara and Luis Sinisterra around the hour mark.

In total Iraola used all five of his available subs, with Antoine Semenyo, Joe Rothwell and Adam Smith all making appearances off the bench.

Cherries did not record a shot on target in the second period, with Arsenal looking comfortable throughout the final 45 minutes.

Asked about his substitutions, Iraola told the Daily Echo: “I think they tried. It was difficult because they (Arsenal) were in control of possession.

“So you have to run, to try to make plays.

“But it's not that I felt we finished better.

“I think last minutes were probably our worst.”

Cherries visit Everton next weekend, with the Toffees yet to pick up a point at their Goodison Park home this term.
