DANIEL Adu-Adjei kept up his goalscoring form by notching the winner for Cherries’ development squad in a 1-0 victory over Charlton Athletic.

Alan Connell’s young Cherries left it late at Wimborne Town’s New Cuthbury to defeat an Addicks side that had shown little resistance in a 4-0 defeat in the Premier League Cup during the week.

A free kick in second-half stoppage time provided the breakthrough, Adu-Adjei leaping to head home and win his side the game.

Only one change was made from the team that had beaten Charlton last time out, Nathan Moriah-Welsh replacing Ben Winterburn, who dropped to the bench.

Chances were at a premium throughout the contest, Cam Plain in the Cherries goal making stops at either end of the first half to deny the most dangerous Charlton chances.

In the second period, Cherries went close on multiple occasions.

Eventual matchwinner Adu-Adjei struck the post, whilst Balraj Landa saw a goal-bound effort hacked off the line.

But a free kick in a promising position provided the platform for Cherries to win the game, Adu-Adjei delivering a powerful header that separated the two sides.
