INJURED duo Ryan Fredericks and Emiliano Marcondes are “not close” to a first-team return, according to boss Andoni Iraola.

Neither have featured this season, since suffering injuries towards the back end of the last campaign.

Marcondes underwent surgery on a foot problem, while Fredericks suffered what former boss Gary O’Neil described as “quite a nasty” calf injury.

Asked for an update on the pair, Iraola said: “They are far from training with the team.

“I have seen them on the grass this week at least, even if they were just doing the physical side.

“I think it is good for the players when they start going outside and it is not just going in the gym and the physios.

“So they are on their way to recovery, but they are not close to being part of the training with the team.”
