NETO believes Cherries showed the “intensity and potential” they possess but admit the side needed to turn performances into wins sooner rather than later.

Brighton inflicted a third defeat of the season upon Cherries at the Amex on Sunday afternoon, the Seagulls coming from behind to finish comfortable 3-1 winners.

Cherries had looked in control after taking the lead via Dominic Solanke, the talismanic striker punishing Brighton keeper Bart Verbruggen’s dwelling on the ball.

But there were mistakes either side of the break that led to Brighton goals, Milos Kerkez heading past his own goalkeeper before a kick-off routine went badly wrong, substitute Karou Mitoma capitalizing.

The Japanese winger made sure of the result 14 minutes from time, Cherries unable to find a way back in the game.

Speaking to the Daily Echo, Neto shared: “Tough result.

“First half, we played very well.

“It was the ideas that we spoke about.

“We put it on the pitch and we created opportunities.

“We felt good on the pitch.

“In the first half, we were a little bit unlucky and we concede the first goal, and then the game changed.

“I think you come to the break drawing a game that you are doing really well, where your confidence is high and you don't know how they score.

“Of course, it’s not the best thing.

“Then the second half, they had the opportunity to score in the first seconds.

“I think that we have to change, because we can’t concede so easily like that, but it's football.

“Many times things happen you can’t control.”

Brighton’s equaliser came after a cross caused disruption in the Cherries box, Neto preparing to catch the ball before his defender Kerkez nodded it past him.

“I felt that I had the ball in my hand, and Milos felt that he had the opportunity to clear the ball,” explained the goalie.

“It's a very quick moment. Everything is fast in that moment.

“I think he doesn't understand, the ball is with me.

“I have to understand who is crossing in front of me.

“So like I said, it is football. Sometimes strange things happen.

“We have to live with that.”

Cherries are yet to win any of their first six Premier League fixtures, with their captain believing they deserved more than the three points they currently possess.

He continued: “We are looking for this win.

“I think we deserve more in many games.

“But nothing will change just because we deserve.

“I think we are working very good in the weeks.

“We showed today, the intensity, the potential that we have.

“But we need the wins.

“Football is about that and I hope that we can we change it as quick as possible.”
