IT IS another Sunday fixture for Cherries this weekend, with Andoni Iraola’s charges travelling across the south coast to face Brighton & Hove Albion.

Cherries are still after a first win in the Premier League, but we are quickly becoming accustomed to Iraola’s style of football – and his team selections.

We have taken another go at guessing the line-up for Sunday, which is a tall ask considering the players themselves find out just hours before kick-off!

Goalkeeper and defence

After a shaky performance at Brentford, Neto was back to his best in between the sticks against Chelsea, making a few decent stops to keep a first clean sheet of the campaign.

Lloyd Kelly’s impressive display against Chelsea will likely see him keep his spot in the starting XI, with Marcos Senesi perhaps a tad unfortunate to miss out.

The rest of the backline already becoming quite settled.

Adam Smith is back to provide competition but it is hard to look past Max Aarons at right back. Milos Kerkez has made the left flank his home at Vitality Stadium, and his pace and directness on the counter could cause Brighton problems.

Illia Zabarnyi has been getting the nod over Chris Mepham, and is likely to receive it yet again at the Amex.

Midfield

Tyler Adams is closing in on a return, but Iraola stated that the American’s Cherries debut will not be arriving in the match in West Sussex this weekend.

Alex Scott is back on the grass but much further away, meaning the central midfield options are limited.

Lewis Cook arguably put in his best performance of the season in the draw with Chelsea, and is a more natural fit as the defensive half of a midfield two.

Philip Billing has missed just four minutes of action all season, having started all five of Cherries’ league games as well as their EFL Cup victory over Carabao Cup.

Ryan Christie is another to have featured in all six of Iraola’s games in charge, and his manager has spoken about how his absence badly impacts the team.

Attackers

Dominic Solanke is Cherries’ talisman so there is no doubt other whether he will start on Sunday.

Cherries’ wide options pose Iraola the biggest questions. Dango Ouattara had a difficult time on his return from injury against Chelsea, but another week in training building up match fitness could strengthen the case for his inclusion.

It is a similar story for Marcus Tavernier, who started on the other flank. He is further along on his return to full fitness, and looked a little livelier last time out.

Antoine Semenyo was perhaps hard done by to drop to the substitutes following his impressive start to the campaign.

But there is a strong argument Justin Kluivert’s cameo off the bench warrants a start, and Luis Sinisterra has not been brought in from Leeds to watch on from the sidelines.

As such, we expect the pair to come in for Ouattara and Tavernier, although it is a near certainty that Iraola will freshen up the flanks in the second half on Sunday.
