CHERRIES boss Andoni Iraola believes his side will soon be scoring goals at a higher rate, referring to the attacking talent he has at his disposal.

The Basque admitted that Cherries had not been converting as many goals as would be expected with the amount of chances they were creating.

This summer Cherries drafted in wingers Luis Sinisterra and Justin Kluivert to add to Iraola’s attacking options, having also signed offensive threats Dango Ouattara, Hamed Traore, and Antoine Semenyo in January.

Sunday’s 0-0 draw with Chelsea was Cherries’ second blank in front of goal this term, having scored four times in the league.

Only Everton and Luton, two sides who occupy spots in the relegation zone, have scored fewer league goals in the top-flight this term.

In contrast, Cherries visit the division’s top goal scorers on Sunday (2pm), with Brighton averaging three goals a game from their opening five Premier League fixtures.

Asked about his side’s lack of goals, Iraola responded: “We are having chances.

“I think for goals that we’ve scored, it's a very low number for the chances we had.

“We missed, I think, clear, clear chances even the other day against Chelsea.

“It's true that at the end it's not enough, the number of goals we’ve scored.

“But I feel when the team is playing, especially last games against Brentford, against Chelsea, that we are dangerous.

“I feel like our forwards are causing problems to opposite defenders.

“I think we have enough talent in our offensive side, the number of goals we score, I think it's going to go up.”

One man who is expected to provide goals for Cherries this season will be talismanic frontman Dominic Solanke.

The one-time England international scored six goals last term in the top-flight, and has recently been rewarded with a new contract after bagging two goals in his first five Premier League appearances of the new season.

“I think it's pretty clear since day one, for me, he’s a very, very good number nine,” explained Iraola.

“He gives us a lot of things apart from the goals.

“He is having the chances. He's scored two, but the other day he had a very, very good chance, very good save from Robert Sanchez.

“Every game he has had a clear chance or a couple.

“It's a very good thing.

“I always tell him I want a number nine that misses goals.

“This is a good sign.

“And at the end he will score because he has the qualities.

“Also he knows that he has to help the team, because he has to make the ones playing behind him better also.

“He is focused on that.”
