POOLE Town have sold goalkeeper Luke Cairney to divisional rivals Winchester City for an undisclosed fee.

Cairney had asked to leave the club following the departure of legendary manager Tom Killick at the start of the month, with the goalie missing all three of Matt Tubbs’ first games in charge.

Dolphins have since drafted in former Oxford United and Yeovil Town goalkeeper Max Evans, who has recorded two clean sheets in his first two starts.

The 31-year-old calls time on his second stint at Tatnam Farm, having rejoined Dolphins ahead of the 2022-23 campaign.

In total, Cairney made 128 appearances for Poole across two spells, scoring once and providing four assists.

Poole are yet to play Winchester this season, with Dolphins welcoming their Hampshire counterparts to the BlackGold Stadium on Saturday, December 2, before travelling the other way for the return fixture on Saturday, March 16.
