ANDONI Iraola believes Cherries’ performance in their 0-0 draw with Chelsea was the ‘most complete’ of his tenure as head coach to date.

Cherries gave as good as they got against free-spending Chelsea, neither side able to find the breakthrough in soggy conditions at Vitality Stadium.

Match report: Cherries and Chelsea cancel each other out in goalless Vitality stalemate

It means Cherries are now unbeaten in their previous three matches, having defeated Swansea City in the EFL Cup before picking up a point away at Brentford prior to the draw with the Blues.

Iraola told the Daily Echo: “I think (it was) probably the most complete game we’ve played.

“We had good spells in other games, probably adding to the level of our opponent, we had our clean sheet.

“Obviously, you always want to score and win the game.

“We had, especially first half, a chance very clear from Dango (Ouattara) and after, second half with Dom.

“But also Neto and Robert Sanchez were really good.

“Both of them were a big part of the 0-0.”

Iraola felt that whilst a point may not look like much, the performance against strong opposition demonstrated Cherries’ quality.

The Basque also felt that Cherries looked the more likely side to find a winner in the closing stages.

“Okay, doesn't look like a lot, one point,” he continued.

“Because I think we felt during some moments, we were closer to winning the game, especially the last part of the game, I would say.

“But we also have to evaluate it because we had in front of us a very good team who also don't need a lot to score.

“So happy because we had some very good individual performances overall.

“Even with the tiredness, the team continued to push and we really wanted to score the winning goal.

“But we have to be okay to finish with one (point).”

After five Premier League fixtures, Cherries have three points, leaving them 15th in the Premier League table at the time of writing.

Iraola is yet to pick up his first win as Cherries boss, his next opportunity to do so next Sunday’s trip to Brighton & Hove Albion (2pm).
