DEFENDER Max Aarons described his move to Cherries a challenge he needed to take.

The right-back arrived at Vitality Stadium just days ahead of Cherries’ season opener against West Ham, leaving Norwich City for a fee worth an initial £7million.

Although the decision to part ways with Norwich after seven-years had been made well in advance of Aarons’ move to Cherries, the exact destination had been up in the air.

In the end, Cherries managed to convince the England under-21 international to join them, despite the 23-year-old having agreed terms with Leeds United.

After joining the Canaries as a teenager from Luton Town, Aarons has only played senior football at Carrow Road.

Despite only being 23, Aarons has already played in over 200 senior matches, including 73 Premier League appearances.

Discussing the change in scenery, Aarons told the Daily Echo: “It's my first challenge away from Norwich, but one that I needed and one that I feel like I can add a lot to in terms of the club and myself.

“I'm really, really excited still and obviously only been here two or three weeks now, I feel really at home.”

There has been little time for Aarons to settle, having being chucked straight into the starting line-up on the opening day.

He has played all but 15 minutes of Cherries’ four fixtures so far, already establishing himself as key figure under Andoni Iraola.

“You either get eased into it or you're straight in,” mused the right-back.

“I think I'd have preferred it to be like this, to be straight into it.

“I think I feel really good and feel after each game as well, better and better.

“Hopefully now going into Brentford in the league we can cap off our good performances with the win.”

Cherries are yet to win a Premier League game under Iraola but the Basque boss got off the mark with victory over Swansea in the EFL Cup during the week.

Whilst results are not quite there yet, Aarons believes that performances show that more points are just around the corner.

He continued: “Two disappointing results the last few weeks, but now I think it's been a really good start.

“I think you can see some of the things that we're trying to do on the pitch as well.

“And I think in general we've been really good.

“I think (against Spurs) we came up against a quality side.

“They were quite ruthless when they got their chances.

“I think we have to obviously be disappointed with the result, but I think in general, about performances, the first three games of the season, I think we can be quite happy.”

Cherries travel to Brentford this afternoon (3pm) in their fourth Premier League game of the season.
