DANNY Ford believes there is nobody more deserving of a shot at the British Grand Prix than Steve Worrall.

The Poole Pirates captain, 31, is set to make his debut at the event in Cardiff on Saturday, having won a wild card spot after finishing as runner-up at the recent British Final.

“I’m absolutely delighted for Stevie,” Pirates promoter Ford told the Daily Echo.

“I don’t think there’s probably a more deserving person in British speedway of it. He’s very professional in everything he does, a true servant of British speedway.

“So to be rewarded with something like the wild card for the British GP is thoroughly deserved.

“I’m absolutely delighted for him and his family.

“I’m sure there will be a good contingent of Pirates fans making the trip across to Cardiff to cheer him on.”

Worrall’s Pirates teammate Anders Rowe is a track reserve for the event.
