CHERRIES have confirmed the signing of Tyler Adams from Leeds United.

The initial fee is believed to be in the region of £23million, with further add-ons dependent on certain criteria being met.

Adams arrives on a five-year deal that will take him until the end of the 2028-29 season.
It had been reported that Cherries had made a bid earlier in the week that matched the American’s £20million release clause, only for the clause to expire.

Leeds only signed the USA captain for £20million last summer from Bundesliga side RB Leipzig, Adams making a total of 24 appearances in the Premier League for the Whites in the 2022-23 campaign.

AFC Bournemouth chief executive Neill Blake told the club website: “We’re thrilled to have brought Tyler to the club and he is a player we’ve admired for a long time.

“It’s been widely documented how much his talents have been recognised in this transfer window by other clubs, so to have him sign for AFC Bournemouth shows the ambition we have as a club.

“Tyler is an exciting player who possesses plenty of experience for someone that is just 24 years of age and we’re looking forward to working with him as he’s a player we know will be a great addition to our squad.”

Nominated captain of the US national side ahead of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, Adams has been capped 36 times by his country.
The 24-year-old travelled to London to complete his medical on Friday, although he is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury that required surgery in March.
A move to Chelsea earlier on in the window broke down after the medical stage, with the Blues moving on to sign long-term targets Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia from Brighton and Southampton respectively.

There had also been reported interest from Brighton and Liverpool, both sides set to compete in the UEFA Europa League this season.

The American will wear the number 18 at Cherries, worn by Matias Vina and Jamal Lowe last season.
