CHERRIES defender Illia Zabarnyi admitted that his side maybe needed a little more during their season opener against West Ham.

The Ukrainian international played the full 90 minutes as Cherries shared a point in their curtain raiser with West Ham United.

Both goals were consigned to the second-half, Jarrod Bowen’s curled finish cancelled out by Dom Solanke’s cool finish with less than 10 minutes remaining.

Zabarnyi told the Daily Echo: “A good game.

“West Ham is a good team with great players and of course I think it's a hard game, but first an important game for us and I think we do it well, but maybe need more.

Cherries had to comeback from a goal behind after Bowen’s fantastic strike, with Zabarnyi stating that his side were not fazed by trailing.

“It's football,” he restarted.

“It all can happen and of course, need to never give up and just continue and play.”
Asked if he felt like Cherries looked similar on the pitch to how they fare on the training ground, Zabarnyi responded: “Yeah.

“We did a good pre-season and we spoke a lot of things about how we need to play and try to make it on the pitch.”
