CHERRIES' first Premier League game of the season ended in a 1-1 draw with West Ham United.

Dominic Solanke found a later equaliser for Andoni Iraola's men after Jarrod Bowen's curling effort had given West Ham a second half lead.

New for this season, we are asking Cherries' fans for their player of the match each game.

We will nominate four options each fixture, describing the reasoning behind their nominations.

This week we have chosen goalscorer Dominic Solanke, debutant Milos Kerkez, midfielder Joe Rothwell, and winger David Brooks.

The poll will close at 9am on Sunday, August 13. If we have made a glaring omission, let us know in the comments!

Dominic Solanke

Cherries' talisman showed coolness to round Alphonse Areola and slot home the equaliser eight minutes from time.

Leading the line, Solanke was a focal point for Cherries, before dropping deeper when Kieffer Moore was introduced.

In a game with little chances, Solanke took his.

David Brooks

The Welshman stated in pre-season that he was targeting an opening day start under Andoni Iraola, another step back to his best following his recovery from Hodgkin's Lymphoma.

He looked bright throughout, always looking to shot when the opportunity presented itself. A curling effort and later venomous volley drew good saves out of Areola.

Joe Rothwell

Before Solanke's equaliser, the closest Cherries came was Rothwell's strike that shook the crossbar.

With doubts over the depth of the midfield at Cherries, Rothwell proved that any new signings will have to work hard to take his shirt.

It must be noted however, that Rothwell did lose possession for West Ham's goal, a brief mistake ruthlessly punished by Bowen's fantastic strike.

Milos Kerkez

The Hungarian became Cherries' fifth teenager to feature in the Premier League, following in the footsteps of Mark Travers, Lewis Cook, Owen Bevan, and Matt Worthington.

He looked fearless at left-back, hurtling forward and backwards throughout the contest.
