FORMER Cherries boss Gary O’Neil says he has “no qualms at all” over his dismissal at Vitality Stadium this summer.

Cherries opted to sack O’Neil when it became clear that Andoni Iraola was available in June, despite the rookie boss keeping the Dorset outfit in the Premier League last term.

Initially appointed caretaker manager, O’Neil impressed enough to earn an 18-month deal that was extended by a further year after survival was secured.

There has been little idle time for O’Neil, who once again has been selected to jump in and firefight, this time at Wolves after the departure of Julien Lopetegui just days before the Premier League season starts.

Asked if he had any issue with Cherries opting to fire him in the summer, O’Neil responded: "No, no qualms at all.

"I understand the game, things come to an end, sometimes they come to an end in agreement, sometimes they run their course and things change.

"No, hard feelings at all, I wish Bournemouth well this year and hope they have a successful season.

"I'm looking forward to diving into the next role, which is a fantastic role for me, it helps me in my progression, so looking forward to the challenges at Wolves."

Cherries will cross paths with O’Neil’s Wolves side on Saturday, October 21.
