BRISTOL City boss Nigel Pearson said he is “disappointed” to lose Alex Scott as the starlet nears a move to Cherries.

The Daily Echo reported earlier today that Scott is set to undergo a medical with Cherries ahead of a move worth in excess of £20million.

Cherries have long wanted after the 19-year-old, tracking the Guernsey-born midfielder for multiple windows.

Bristol City had been understood to have valued Scott at £25million, with Pearson instead believing him to be worth £30million.

Scott has missed Bristol City’s first two games of the season with a minor knee issue sustained in training.

Pearson said after Robins’ 5-1 thumping of Oxford City: “The club has given Alex permission for that (to hold talks with Cherries) and I really don’t have anything more to say on it.

“I’ve been planning to keep him.

“It’s nothing to do with me, it’s a club decision.

“I’m disappointed because we’ve got a better chance of being successful if we keep our best players.”

“I’ve got nothing to say really, the club has given him permission, so that’s that.

“I’ve got no comment.

“I couldn’t give you the details, I knew today (Wednesday) and that's it.

“I'm not saying anymore.”

The move for Scott is not the first piece of business between the two sides in recent months.

In January, Cherries paid Bristol City a reported £10.5million for Antoine Semenyo, the Ghanian striker going on to make 11 appearances in his debut half-season.
