CHERRIES have reportedly agreed a deal with Fiorentina for midfielder Gaetano Castrovilli.

A four-time international for Italy, Cherries will reportedly pay €12 million, potentially rising to €14million according to Sky Sports.

Castrovilli was a member of the Italian side that defeated England on home soil and lifted the Euros in 2021.

In total the 26-year-old has made 125 appearances for Fiorentina, scoring 13 times and providing eight assists.

The potential capture of Castrovilli helps fill a void in the middle of the park for Cherries.

Last year’s Daily Echo / Micky Cave player of the year Jefferson Lerma left on a free transfer to Premier League rivals Crystal Palace, whilst the departure of Ben Pearson to Stoke City left Philip Billing, Joe Rothwell, and Lewis Cook as the only midfielder still at the club to have featured in the Premier League last term.

Cherries manager Andoni Iraola has previously stated that he would like to see more than one midfielder arrive at Vitality Stadium this summer.

Castrovilli will reportedly travel to England tomorrow in order to complete his medical.

All being well, the transfer should be completed with ample time for Castrovilli to be registered for Cherries opening game against West Ham on Saturday, August 12.
