JIMMY Glass has left Cherries to take up a general manager role with their eighth-tier neighbours Wimborne Town.

A centurion as a Cherries player, making 109 appearances for the club, Glass served in multiple different jobs at Vitality Stadium following his retirement, working as a player liaison officer and hospitality host on matchdays.

Glass, who ended his playing career in non-league with Weymouth, will largely be responsible for “managing and developing the club’s operational programmes, community initiatives and footballing infrastructure” according to the statement announcing his arrival.

Wimborne finance director Lee Merrifield shared: “Jimmy comes to Wimborne after a long association with AFC Bournemouth and we’re delighted to have someone of his standing onboard from both a football and business perspective.

“These are exciting times at Wimborne as we go from strength to strength on and off the pitch and start to implement our plans to move the club forward with the goal of National League South football in mind.

“The facilities and foundations for progression are already in place and we’re keen to build on last season’s record attendances by further strengthening our links with the local community and local businesses and Jimmy, alongside the Wimborne board, will be at the forefront of driving this forward in his role as general manager.”

Glass himself commented: Jimmy Glass added: “I’m incredibly excited to be working with Wimborne Town.

“I hope that I can add to what is already an impressive set up and help the club achieve its true potential.”

A former goalkeeper, Wimborne have signed another shot-stopper in the form of Bert White to bolster their keeping stable at New Cuthbury.

Ex-Ipswich Town youngster White joins after spells in non-league with local sides Gosport, Weymouth and Salisbury.

Manager Tim Sills commented on the capture of the goalie: “Delighted to have Bert sign on for the season.

"We have a great mix now of youth and experience in the goalkeeping department and Bert brings a real pedigree behind him with bundles of potential.

"One to watch and a really exciting prospect.”
