KILMARNOCK have completed a deal to sign Cherries goalkeeper Will Dennis on a season-long loan.

Dennis, 22, has been with Cherries since 2016 and made one senior appearance – in an FA Cup win over Oldham Athletic in January 2021.

The former Watford youngster has been a regular member of Cherries’ first-team training sessions in recent years, also used as an unused substitute on multiple occasions.

He has already had five previous loan spells away from Cherries in England’s non-league at Guernsey, Verwood Town, Weymouth, Wealdstone and Slough Town.

This move to Scottish Premiership Kilmarnock represents a big step up for Dennis, as he prepares to challenge Sam Walker for the number one spot.

Former Chelsea youngster Walker, 31, has been with Killie since 2021, after joining from Reading. His most successful spell came in League One, making more than 150 appearances for Colchester United.

Dennis, who is under contract at Cherries until 2025, impressed during his most recent loan spell in National South, jointly winning the Slough manager’s player of the season award.

Cherries currently have four other senior goalkeepers on the books in Neto, Mark Travers, Darren Randolph and Cameron Plain.

Cherries previously sent Zeno Ibsen Rossi on loan to Kilmarnock, in the 2020-21 season.
