DAVID Brooks will make his first start in 598 days as he is named in Cherries’ team to host Manchester United.

The Welsh international’s last start was back on Wednesday, 29 September 2021, when he played 69 minutes in a 0-0 draw at Peterborough United.

Shortly after Brooks was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, missing most of the last campaign before being given the all clear in May.

He has since made four appearances off the bench.

It is a total of five changes to the side defeated 2-0 at Crystal Palace last weekend.

Bournemouth Echo:

Defender Matias Vina is replaced by Marcos Senesi, as Phil Billing makes way for Brooks.

Jaidon Anthony also starts in place of Dango Ouattara, while Chris Mepham drops out for Adam Smith.

Lewis Cook is in for Joe Rothwell for his first start since January, when he was forced off due to an ACL sprain at Brentford.

During the defeat to Palace, Jefferson Lerma suffered a hit to the face from Palace defender Joachim Andersen, breaking his nose.

Lerma starts despite the broken nose, wearing a face mask, whilst Hamed Traore is in attendance but is not risked as he makes his return from a foot injury.

Antoine Semenyo underwent successful surgery on a shin issue, but will miss the rest of his campaign.

Youngsters Dominic Sadi and Dan Adu-Adjei are both included in the matchday 20. Sadi made his senior debut for Cherries back in August, whilst Adu-Adjei has recently enjoyed a loan spell at Southern Premier South Poole Town.

Junior Stanislas (back) and Ryan Fredericks (calf) are also unavailable.

Cherries: Neto, Smith, Zabarnyi, Senesi, Kelly; Cook, Lerma; Christie, Brooks, Anthony, Solanke.

Subs: Travers, Mepham, Stacey, Stephens, Moore, Ouattara, Vina, Adu-Adjei, Sadi.
