IT is time to cast your vote for this season’s Daily Echo/Micky Cave AFC Bournemouth player of the year.

This year could be one of the tougher ones to call, with a number of players in contention for the prestigious award.

Gary O’Neil’s side have surprised many with their performances this season, all but securing Premier League safety with weeks to spare in an impressive campaign.

The Daily Echo/Micky Cave Memorial Trophy is named in honour of the former Cherries midfielder, who died in 1984.

The past three winners of the award have been goalkeepers, with Mark Travers the current holder, following in the footsteps of Aaron Ramsdale and Asmir Begovic.

Bournemouth Echo:

The likes of Eddie Howe, Nathan Ake, Steve Fletcher, Brett Pitman, Marc Pugh, Simon Francis, James Hayter, Steve Cook, Jason Pearce, Harry Arter and Tommy Elphick are all former recipients.

Players eligible for the award must have played more than 1,000 minutes this campaign and be part of the first-team squad at the end of the season.

There is the possibility for a fourth goalkeeper in succession to win the award with captain Neto becoming a fans’ favourite during his debut campaign in England.

Elsewhere, Philip Billing and Dominic Solanke are the club’s joint top scorers, while experienced duo Jefferson Lerma and Adam Smith have played the most minutes.

Centre-backs Marcos Senesi and Chris Mepham have also had good seasons, each seeing well over 2,000 minutes of action, while Marcus Tavernier has provided some memorable moments, when fit.
