GARY O’Neil warned it would be “dangerous” for Cherries to feel like they “belong” in the Premier League, despite recent impressive results.

Cherries have won six of their past 10 fixtures to all but secure another season of top-flight football.

That run saw wins over the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool, two sides battling to qualify for next season’s Champions League.

Asked if recent wins help Cherries’ squad feel like they belong in the Premier League, after suggestions earlier in the season they were not cut out for this level, O’Neil told the Daily Echo: “I think they believe they can compete at this level.

“I also hope that they know we need to be flat out to do so.

“Feeling like we belong here, I think is a dangerous way of putting it. We need to be flat out in every game to compete at this level at this moment, which is the nature of being newly-promoted, being a relatively small club at this level.

“As you saw, 95 per cent against West Ham (a 4-0 defeat) doesn’t get you very much.

“We need to be 100 per cent flat out, all the time, every single game and then if we manage to do that, we have chances of putting results on the board.”
