GARY O’Neil named two members of Cherries’ development squad who caught his eye during the club's run to the Hampshire Senior Cup final.

Alan Connell’s side are set to face Basingstoke Town in the competition’s showpiece event at Fratton Park tomorrow (7.45pm).

To reach this stage, Cherries have seen off Folland Sports, Tadley Calleva, Portsmouth and Eastleigh, scoring 16 goals along the way.

Cherries’ first team boss O’Neil was in attendance for the 5-2 quarter-final victory over Pompey at Vitality Stadium in late March.

Trailing 2-0 early on, a hat-trick from the returning David Brooks and a brace from Daniel Adu-Adjei sent Cherries into the last four.

Asked which players aside from Brooks caught his eye from that comeback win, O’Neil told the Daily Echo: “There was some good performances.

“Ben Greenwood did well, showed good quality with his left foot and defended well.

“Daniel up front has obviously been in and around the first team at a very young age. He looks sharp at times. Obviously still loads to do with him, but he showed some moments.

“It was a good performance. To be down early against a fairly senior Portsmouth team and come back the way they did, it was a real big effort from everyone.”
