INJURED duo Ryan Fredericks and Junior Stanislas will not play for Cherries again this season.

The pair have struggled for fitness throughout the campaign, making a combined 18 appearances between them.

The last of Stanislas’s five outings came as captain, scoring in a 4-1 win over Everton in the Carabao Cup in November.

Full-back Fredericks, who joined the club last summer, has not featured since the 1-0 win over Liverpool in March.

Asked if either of the long-term absentees could feature during the next month, O’Neil told the Daily Echo: “They won’t play again this season. My thoughts around both of them is how quickly can they can back to being in shape and able to affect football matches.

“One, for themselves and then two, for the club.

“Ryan Fredericks was a calf, quite a nasty one. Junior had an issue with his back. Neither of them will be ready again this season.”

Stanislas’s contract expires this summer, having been at Cherries since 2014.

The pair will miss tomorrow's game against Chelsea, as will Kieffer Moore (concussion), Marcus Tavernier (hamstring) and likely Hamed Traore (foot).

There was some positive injury news with Chris Mepham returning after a hamstring issue saw him miss last weekend's win over Leeds.

O'Neil said of Mepham: "He’ll be in the squad tomorrow.

"He trained Wednesday, Thursday, Friday this week, so he’s had a good week."
