PUNDITS have again been heaping praise on Cherries boss Gary O’Neil, following another Premier League victory.

Cherries registered back-to-back league wins for the first time all season, coming from behind to beat Tottenham Hotspur 3-2 on Saturday.

The win lifts them six points clear of the relegation zone with seven games to play.

Speaking on BBC’s Match of the Day, former England midfielder Danny Murphy said of O’Neil: “It’s admirable how he is sticking to his beliefs. He’s very proactive.

“He changes formation depending on the team he is playing against and I think his in-game management is really good.

“He always tries to change the momentum in a game, even when it’s not going their way.

“I think he can be very proud of himself.

“I think they’re close to staying up now and that would be a remarkable job for a manager in his first tenure.”

Meanwhile Tony Cascarino, who used to play up front for Millwall, the club O’Neil grew up supporting, said on talkSPORT: “There’s a togetherness, you can feel it.

“Gary O’Neil has created that. They will run every inch, cover every blade of grass on the pitch to try and get something out of a game.

“Their courage in the way they’ve played, I think that comes from the manager.

“He’s working with them day-by-day, instilling all the things you need to do to try and get goals and he’s not gone down the road of parking London buses.

“He’s gone down the road of ‘we’re going to take it to teams, home and away’. Fair play to them.

“There’s something about them and it’s all to do with how brave they are in the way they play.”
