HAMWORTHY United’s winning run came to a surprising end, losing 4-2 at rock-bottom Slimbridge.

Dan Cann’s Hammers had racked up four victories on the spin, lifting them up to third in the Southern League Division One South table.

But despite goals from Sam Griffin and Rafa Ramos, they came away with nothing from their trop to Gloucestershire.

In difficult weather conditions, Hammers took an early lead, Griffin firing home from distance.

The same man then struck the crossbar from a free-kick soon after, before goalkeeper Lewis Adams then denied Remus Nixon.

The Swans levelled on 28 minutes, James Sunley netting after a corner, before Hammers got their noses back in front.

Cann’s men led 2-1 at half-time, courtesy of a fine Ramos strike.

Just past the hour mark, Slimbridge equalised, Ethan Dunbar finishing from close range after Ben Prictor’s effort came back off the bar.

The hosts got in front for the first time with eight minutes to play, Sunley’s shot too hot for keeper Jakub Lewiarz to handle.

Joseph Shutt then tapped in a fourth to seal the shock victory.

Hammers go to Cinderford Town tomorrow.
