MARCUS Tavernier is set for another spell on the sidelines, as he recovers from a second hamstring injury.

The former Middlesbrough man was substituted just before the hour mark, having netted what proved to be the winning goal at Wolverhampton Wanderers last weekend.

That was Tavernier's first start since November, having injured his opposite hamstring in training during the World Cup break.

Providing an update on the 23-year-old ahead of tomorrow's clash with Man City, boss Gary O'Neil said: "Tav won’t make the game after last weekend, Tav will be missing.

"Lloyd Kelly not back yet, Lewis Cook not back yet, Illia (Zabarnyi) still out.

"I think, apart from that, pretty much as we were for the Wolves game. So Tav I would expect to be the only change to the squad that was prepared for Wolves."

He added: "Tav was coming off (at Wolves) anyway, before he got injured.

"It was his first game back, so we had the subs ready and then Tav felt a pain in the other hamstring.

"He wasn’t sure if it was a contact. He’s had a few things go on this week.

"He’s had some tests and things done, there’s a few more to be done early next week.

"We’re hopeful that it’s not too serious. But it’s the other side. So we’re hopeful that he’ll be back soon, but he won’t play a part this weekend.

"Tav came back, scored the winning goal and was a threat when he carried the ball for us.

"As I said on the day, I didn’t think he was back to his best, but he definitely helped us.

"So losing Tav is a blow, of course. Antoine (Semenyo) I thought did really well when he came on, Jaidon (Anthony) as well.

"We need everybody fit, really, ideally, of course, to give us the best chance.

"But injuries happen, things happen and thankfully we’ve got a little bit more depth now so it’s not quite as drastic as it could’ve been before January."
