THE TRANSFER saga surrounding former Cherry Arnaut Danjuma has finally come to an end, with the Dutchman joining Tottenham on loan until the end of the season.

Danjuma had been heavily linked to a return to the Vitality Stadium following reports that he had fallen out of favour with new manager Quique Seiten at parent club Villarreal.

It is understood a Cherries delegation consisting of CEO Neill Blake, Technical Director Richard Hughes, and his assistant, Simon Francis, met with the Dutch international following Cherries’ defeat to Brentford on Saturday, January 14.

Danjuma made 52 appearances in red and black, scoring 17 times across the span of two seasons after joining from Club Brugge in the summer of 2019.

Unfortunate to miss out on the Netherlands’ World Cup squad for Qatar at the tail end of 2022, Danjuma reached the semi-finals of the Champions League with current side Villarreal last campaign.

Fellow Premier League strugglers Nottingham Forest were also credited with an interest, whilst speculation connected the Dutchman with West Ham over the summer.

However, the potential homecoming did not come true, with the former PSV man opting to join Cherries’ relegation rivals Everton.

Cherries have since turned their attentions to Danjuma's teammate Nicolas Jackson, with a deal agreed with Villarreal.

The 25-year-old then travelled to Merseyside to sort the necessary prerequisites ahead of a loan move, with a medical completed.

But there was to be a further twist in the tale.

Everton then proceeded to sack manager Frank Lampard, and with paperwork to complete the move still outstanding, there was the opportunity for Spurs to swoop in with an offer of their own.

With Tottenham fighting at the other end of the table, the move was sorted quickly, with the Nigerian-born attacker unveiled officially as a Spurs player on Wednesday afternoon.

Asked last week about the links to Danjuma, Cherries boss Gary O’Neil replied: “I don’t like speaking about other team’s players, but obviously I know Arnie.

“I’ve worked with him. Arnie knows what I think of him.

“He’s a fantastic talent.

“He was excellent for us while he was here, especially towards the end of his spell

“I’m sure wherever he goes to next will be pleased to have him.

“He’s an attacking talent. I like Arnie. I enjoyed working with him and he knows that.”
