HAMWORTHY United boss Dan Cann has described Weymouth loanee Frankie Monk as a “phenomenal talent”.

Cann was speaking after the Hammers in December extended the Terras under-23 star’s loan by a month after a series of impressive displays.

Monk has recorded a goal and an assist in five games with the Southern League Division One South side.

His tally adds to an astonishing 10 goals and six assists at under-23 level this season in only eight appearances.

And Cann predicts Monk consequently has a promising future in the game.

He told the Dorset Echo: “He started really well and then he had flu and a niggle with his knee.

“But he’s a phenomenal talent and he’s going to go a long way in the game, for sure.

“I know Matty Burrows has just gone to Totton and I think Frankie has got more about him and probably more ability than Matty.

“It’s just the timing with him not being too well and picking up a niggle, it’s disrupted his progress with us.”
