BOSS Gary O’Neil is hoping to replicate the “special feeling” he felt at Old Trafford as a player when he takes Cherries there tomorrow night.

O’Neil was part of a Norwich City side who stunned Manchester United to win 2-1 back in December 2015.

Goals from Cameron Jerome and Alex Tettey lifted the Canaries out of the relegation zone and saw Louis van Gaal’s side drop out of the top four.

O’Neil started and played 82 minutes of that contest against the likes of Michael Carrick, Wayne Rooney, Juan Mata and goalscorer Anthony Martial.

Reflecting on that memorable victory, O’Neil told the Daily Echo: “I won there with Norwich, yes.

“It was a good day, 2-1 I think. It’s a tough place to go.

“I and I’m not many people had many successes there. They’re a good side.

“It was special because Norwich were a newly-promoted side as well. In a relegation battle we were.

“So to go there and get a victory was big for us. It was a special feeling.

“Hopefully we can recreate that on Tuesday.”

Cherries head to Old Trafford on the back of three straight losses and without a win on the road since September.

By contrast, the Lancashire giants have had no slip-ups since the World Cup break and sit fourth in the table.

“It’s going to be a tough game,” said O’Neil.

“I think they’ve lost one in 15, they’re a top side. Erik ten Hag has obviously done some fantastic work there.

“They seem to have turned a corner. They are much better than they were before he went in.

“So it will be a tough one for us, but that’s the Premier League. It’s what’s coming.

“We need to make sure we’re ready. It’s a great place to go and play.

“The boys worked their socks off last year for the opportunity to go and play at places like this.

“So let’s go, give everything we’ve got, make sure it looks a lot better than the Crystal Palace performance and see where we end up.”

He continued: “You’re a newly-promoted side, you have a game that is winnable against Crystal Palace, you miss that one and then you end up with tough ones coming.

“That’s the nature of it. We need to make sure that we go to Man United, we are competitive and we give ourselves every chance of getting a result.

“We’ll see where we land at the end of it.”
