POOLE Town boss Tom Killick was pleased with the “routine” manner in which Dolphins dispatched their Dorset rivals Dorchester Town on Boxing Day.

Former Dorch strikers Tony Lee and Toby Holmes provided the goals in the 3-0 win, Lee at the double in the first-half, before Holmes added further gloss in the second period.

Dorchester failed to muster a shot on target throughout the contest, with the Magpies also unable to contend with Poole’s flicked headers over the top, two such occurrences leading to Poole’s first and second goal.

The guests were also reduced to ten men, Kieran Douglass adjudged to have fouled Lee inside the box, the striker dispatching the resultant penalty.

Reflecting on the encounter, Killick told the Daily Echo: “I watched them against Truro and we knew that they had energy and with the results they've had this year, they have a lot more belief in themselves, I think.

“So we knew we had to start well and I thought we did that.

“We were a bit frustrated we didn't get a penalty earlier than we did.

“Thought it was possibly harsh to send the lad off when we got the penalty, but it ended up fairly routine in the end.”

In control for large periods of the fixture, Killick revealed how he had hoped his side would have kept up their attacking prowess in the second 45, Poole coming out of the break at a slower pace.

Killick continued: “Although if we had any disappointment, it's probably the first half of the second half.

"Just felt we didn't do really what we talked at half time about not being passive, about looking to get the next goal and really trying to put them to the sword.

"I felt we were a little bit unsure at the start of the second half. I don't really know why, but ended up relatively comfortable in the end."

"I don't think we've picked up any injuries.

"So we can go into Salisbury now with a good win and some momentum."
